LIBERTY BELL MOTORSPORTS PARK GETS THE GREEN LIGHT

A four-track, state-of-the-art Berks County auto-racing complex will offer fun and excitement for the whole family in a safe, environmentally conscious park setting.

DOUGLASSVILLE, PA, August 23, 2007 – Liberty Bell Motorsports Park, a proposed multi-functional state-of-the-art auto-racing complex located on 668 acres near Douglassville, Berks County, will soon become a reality now that the local Zoning Board has granted approval.  Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2009.  Operations should commence later that same year.

The park will include four different independent and dedicated road courses for use by amateurs and semi-professionals.  Spickermann, GMBH, of Stuttgart, Germany, designer of the 200 million dollar Euro speedway, located in Eastern Germany. A world leader in motorsport facility design, designed the hub and spoke layout.  Wilson Motorsports, an accomplished USA racetrack designer, provided additional input.

Three boulevard-type entrances will access the site from State Route 742 and lead to a 22 acre common paddock area.  Two of the four road circuits and are approximately. 5 mile in length, 30 ft. wide paved courses with several challenging turns.  Each course can be operated independently and simultaneously of each other or joined together to form a single 1 mile course.  These two courses are comparatively slow to navigate and are designed for go-carts, driver training and entry level competition.

There are also two 1.5 mile circuits, 40 ft. wide, are designed to accommodate large, fast automobiles and motorcycles.  One course offers a 1,400 ft. straightaway and the other is designed with a 2,750 ft. stretch at a 1% grade and will tolerate speeds close to 200 MPH.  These two larger courses are served by their own “pit/paddock ” area, as are both the smaller courses.

A “grand circuit” is achieved by combining both larger tracks to form a “world class” 2.84 mile course.  All events held at the facility will be monitored and governed by the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) sanctioning body Rules & Regulations.  Motorcycles operating at the site will be guided by the AMA or American Motorcyclist Association Rules.

In conjunction with the Motorsports Park, a large campground located along the banks of the Schuylkill River will also be built and will offer families comfort and convenience while visiting Liberty Bell Motorsports Park.  All 200 to 226 campsites will be equipped with water and sewer hook-up, electricity and cable TV.  Everyone will be able to take advantage of the many recreational, educational and cultural activities available to them in the Berks County area while experiencing the thrill and excitement of Liberty Bell Motorsports Park and Campground!
